PerthKicking of the Electrify Lanark 2024 workshops, the Residential Solar Photovoltaic workshop will take place on Thursday, April 25th in the Perth Library. The workshop will be led by Ian Kilborn. Ian is a licensed professional engineer, Certified Energy Manager (CEM), and an NRCan Registered Energy Advisor. He was also the co-owner of Quantum Renewable Energy Inc, which designs and installs renewable energy systems.
In this workshop you will learn:

>how to lower your carbon footprint
>investing in solar

PerthAn interactive experience, the Outdoor Equipment workshop will take place on the Home Hardware lot, where an advisor from the store will go over their most popular electric products, such as lawn trimmers, fan blowers, chainsaws, and lawn mowers. There will be additional information on different equipment on our website.

Electric Vehicles (EVs) are rapidly gaining in popularity and will continue to displace conventional internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles over the coming years. The number of EV models available in Canada is exploding with choices in every light duty vehicle segment. This presentation will provide information about all aspects of EVs, dispel common misconceptions which are widely reported in various forms of media and answer any question you have. The presentation will also slightly touch on Electric Bikes. You will be able to test drive some EVs and take a look at some E-bikes available locally.

Ontario has a relatively clean electricity grid with a range of diverse resources, including nuclear, hydro, and renewables. However, the system is in flux, with major repairs planned for the nuclear sector, new renewables and storage methods being added in Lanark County. As well, the province has plans to add additional natural gas plants which will result in higher emissions from electricity. There is opportunity to influence the development of Ontario’s electricity system.
As we wean ourselves off of burning fossil fuels it is important to modernize the electricity systems, connect it with places that need it the most, increase the amount of electricity generated from renewable sources, and store it. These non-emitting sources include hydro, wind, and solar.
